[ 3dsMax <> UVLayout ] UVPipe mod by miauu

This script will allow you to send the selected objects to UVLayout and get them back.

This is useful when you wants to have more than one object in the same UV square.

All editable poly objects from the selection(selected objects or groups) will be sent to UVlayout.

It's a modified version of Norman "Norman3D" Schaar's  script, which is modified version of Robert Fletcher's script.

Changes made by me:

  • Now you can send to and receive from UVLayout more than one object, not only one, as it is in the previous versions of the script. Idea Zarko Bojkovski.
  • The groups(nested also) are supported. 

Changes made by Norman3D:


  • User will now be given the choice to close UVLayout if the object was deleted while editing.
  • Rewrote script to support modifiers and avoid colapssing of the stack.
  • UVPipe will attempt to find uvlayout.exe automatically. 
  • Moved creation of temp and config files to User directories to avoid write-errors due to lack of admin rights in restricted environments, typically at work. 
  • Rewrote the functions so that no "temp" mesh is left behind in the max scene while editing. 
  • Objects with spaces in their names can now be send to UVLayout. 
  • Removed tiling button. 
  • Various bug fixes.

Installation: Drag and Drop the UVPipe_mod_by_miauu.mzp file on 3dsMax. A button will be automatically added to the Main Toolbar.

The script uses the default 3ds max importer for obj files.
Check your OBJ Import settings in the default Import dialog. May be the FLIP Y axis iz turned ON.

send to max feature messed up

Thanks for the script. It was working well but now when i click send to 3ds max, it creates a new scene in max and the object is inverted by 90s degrees. Have any idea?

Why working and receiving a channel 2 UV, pop's out an "unknown system error" message?

I installed the UVlayout 2.08 in the same folder, so the path in the ini file is the same.

The error is Fixed.
Download the mzp and install the script.

Wrong Path

I had to change the path in the *.ini. There was still the old path from version 2.06.

Works now!

This is fantastic remake of old script (Pro Version).
Also congrats for MSP vol2. Great work.

Branko is right.
If you have 32bit version of your OS you will have only:
c:\Program Files
If you have 64 bit OS you will have
c:\Program Files -> all 64bit applications are installed here
c:\Program Files (x86) -> all 32 bit applications is installed here

Headus UVLayout is 32 bit application.

Hey visualizer,
probably because U use win 7 x86 ei. 32bit version.
