Give me back my dialogs!

Window box is a script (and tutorial) to show you how you can use Dotnet and Win32 methods to get back dialogs you have lost from using multiple monitors.

UPDATE 2.4.2

Fixed an issue with monitor data, it now centers correctly on all screens. Sorry for the delay in finding that one.

Move To Surface

The following will let the user move objects along their Z axis to fit a specified surface. Such a script can be used to automatically plant trees, poles etc. on the ground.

This script is straight out of the 3ds Max MAXScript reference file. Its part of the MAXScript 'How To' lessons that teaches how to use MAXScript with practical problems. Load your MAXScript reference (the one that ships with 3ds Max) and do a search for 'align surface' and it'll be the first result.

I did not write this script I merely copied the code here as aligning to a surface is a very common request. Make sure to read the other 'How To' tutorials in the 3ds Max MAXScript reference - they're all really good!

Useful utility if you need extra image margins for your renderings - it adjusts your camera and render settings so that your old image will be part of the new rendering without changing perspective - just like changing Canvas Size in Photoshop - but in 3D.

New Re-topology tool: Wrapit

Hello all, I'd thought I'd take this opportunity to demonstrate a new tool I've been developing for 3dsmax 2008 and above.

Wrapit is essentially a tool for conforming meshes to other meshes.
This lends itself to various scenarios such as retopoligising high-res
meshes like those created in Zbrush, mudbox etc and creating low poly
proxies for situations where those are preferable, like collision
detection etc.

Obviously there are other solutions for retopoligising, although I've
never really enjoyed that process in Zbrush, and learning new tools can

LiveMeasure

Measure and show edges length, segments length and faces area in real time. Work with Splines, Editable_Poly and  Editable_mesh objects and Edit_Poly modifier.
--        In Polygon/Element sub-object level will show the selected faces area in generic units only.
--        In Edge/Border sub-object level will show the length of selected edges in user defined units.

Facial Animation Rig

22 votes

Create a complete head rig, with facial animation controls as recommended by Jason Osipa in his book 'Stop Staring'. Starting just with a head mesh, create bones for jaw, head, neck and eyelids. Also create a couple of spline controls for the eyes and the chin. Running the 'eyerig' script creates a rollout with pick buttons for all needed bones and meshes, then sets up the eye and head rigs, as well as placing a skin modifier on the mesh, with the required bones added, ready for vertex weighting. The rig also caters for 'fleshy eyelids' that move with the eye.
