Quad Cylinder

Since I've written a few functions to make my life easier while working on the Gear primitive (plus one that I later discarded, intended to fill holes), I figured I could just as well make a quad cylinder as a much simpler example how to tie these functions together. Enjoy and feel free to rip the code apart and reuse it.

This script is designed to bake all your animation in the bones. If you work in the game industry, this script you will be very useful. Because it allows you to optimize your scene in such engines like Unity or Unreal engine. Instead of having to stage a lot of objects, we will be able to load them as one. Very useful when simulating breaking RDB.

Problem: The filesize of scenes suddenly increases dramatically. This slows down the workflow since every manual-save and autobackup-save takes long and it fills your fileserver with maxfiles that are very big.

Reason: 3ds max adds notetracks and reactor-collisions to the scene. A common workaround for this problem is ctrl+N (New Scene: Keep Objects and Hierarchy) or to merge your scene into an empty new scene.

The 3dsmax UI only allows you to set material effects ID up to 16 channels. The VRayMtl allows you to go beyond this using the effects ID override but other types of materials don't have any UI to adjust this. This tool using a backdoor into 3dsmax to set the effects ID beyond the 16 limit imposed by the UI.

This means you can create masks for every material in your scene. Using this tool you can either assign effects IDs by hand or just press to automatically create them and their mask render elements.

Sometime when we are working with complex animation scene we want to view a part of portion of trajectory for an animated object (as because the total trajectory line is showing us so much complex view) there we can use this script. Here we can mention the starting limit and the end limit of trajectory display. Then the script will show you only the trajectory of range given by you.

SUMMARY:
"Select From Scene" and other 3ds Max Explorer based dialogs introduced over the last few years, tend to always open on top/left screen positions. They simply do not remember any user set positions. This script fixes that using it's own database to save and restore those dialog's positions. This works across 3ds Max sessions..
