SHORT DESCRIPTION
ExtrudeVertex is a 3ds
max 4 scripted tool that resembles the Extrude Vertex command
of Nichimen's Nendo.
It chamfers the vertex and at the same
time extrudes the vertex along its normal.
INSTALLATION
ExtrudeVertex is a Macroscript
containing a scripted mouse tool.
Download the distribution
file from the PolyMeshTools main page.
Unzip the .MS file to your \STDPLUGS\STDSCRIPTS
directory
Unzip the .BMP icon files to your \UI\ICONS
directory.
Start max 4,
Go to Customize>Customize User Interface,
find Category "PolyMeshTools" and drag to a toolbar or assign to a Keyboard
Shortcuts.
NOTE: The
tool will NOT work from a QuadMenu and will freeze max
if attempted to start from a QuadMenu!
RELEASE HISTORY
0.2: Changed workflow - instead of Click&Hold,
now Click, Release, Adjust Extrusion, Click Again to finish...
0.2: Improved redraw speed.
0.1: First Release, kind of slow...
USAGE
Execute by pressing the button or key -the
mouse pointer will turn into a pick cursor
The prompt line of MAX will give a description
of the operation
Click anywhere in the viewport to define a
base point.
Release the left mouse button, drag up/down
to define the height of extrusion, left/right to define the thickness (chamfer)
Both values will be relative to the first
point you picked
Click again to finish the operation.
NOTE: Pressing RMB will NOT cancel
the operation and undo the changes.
To Undo, just use the MAX Undo buttons/shortcuts.
You can extrude in both directions (positive/negative),
and the vertex thickness will respect the max. length of each edge just
like Vertex Chamfer does.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
Extruding multiple vertices is possible, but
might yield unpredictable results in some cases (still investigating)
