Q:
I am using 3DS R2, and I am trying to make a scene with an effect similar
to the beginning of Star Wars, where the camera pans down to a planet and
the stars move up the screen. The trouble I am having is that I put the
Stars.IXP first in my video post, then I put in all of the elements that
make up the scene and when I render it the stars don't move, everything
else moves up the screen except the stars. Is there something I am
missing? Can someone please help, E-Mail me or post here. Thanks in
advance.
A:
The stars.ixp generates a virtual environment sphere as seen from the
earth (with the default stars database used). To make the stars move,
you should rotate the camera (move the Camera.Target down to make the
stars move up) relative to the environment. If you just dolly the
camera, no effect will appear.
In the starting sequence of SW the stars stand still untill the whole
pespective text disappears, then the camera moves down, the stars pan
up, the two monds of Tatooine appear, and at the end the planet itself
comes in sight. So if you do what George Lucas did, it should work with
stars.ixp
Addition:
If you put the stars.ixp AFTER the KF Scene on the VP Queue, the stars won't move, too...
The actual problem in this particualr case turned out to be a simultaneously moving Camera and Camera.Target...
