Q: My problem is the following: I did some flics with 3ds4 and edited a scn file to play them with aaplayer, until here any problem.

There is a new option in Corel Photopaint 6 that allow you to load flic files and retouch them (frame by frame) with all the tools that this software offers. I took one of the scenes of my animaton and tried to paint an explosion. The file was a .fli (256 colors) so I didn't add any color when I retouched it in Photopaint to avoid any posible problem, and I saved it in the same format. The effect was great, It really seemed an explosion. The problem is that when I play the animation in the aaplayer it shows a message that says: "It isn't a fli file" and doesn't work. But if I play it in other viewer (pv) it works. And also in Adobe Premiere can be loaded.

1)Does anybody Know why?
2)Does anybody know from other viewers similar to the aaplayer?

Thank you very much!

A: The .FLI file format came first with Autodesk Animator 1.0 As 3DSr1 came out, it used the same .FLI file format, but it could render at ANY resolution, adding the .FLI extension. Then, Autodesk Animator PRO came out and added a different .FLC format for these files with resolution other than 320x200. 3DSr2 supported all formats, AA1.0 FLI and AAPro .FLI and.FLC.
BUT, strangely enough, 320x200 FLI files created with Animator Pro CANNOT be played back with AAPLAY or Animator 1.0 This is what happens with yout .FLIs - they are converted to a newer version of the .FLI format, that cannot be used with the "grandfather" of flics - Animator 1.0 and it's player.

The easiest way to fix this is to download the AAPLAYHI, which used to come with Animator Pro. It will play back every flic format you create, at any resolution, and lots more...

Visit Rendert**ls and download it...it is free. http://www.archlab.tuwien.ac.at/w2561/ipas/TOOLS.HTM#flics

(It is also included on the "Inside 3DS r4" CD-ROM as ANIPLAY)
