Way to create Simple Material Maps

Hello!

I've been searching for a way to add material expressions as their own maps into 3ds max, but I've been having trouble finding any information on how to do so. I'm completely new to scripting, but was looking for reference on how to write maxscript maps.

I want to add dedicated maps for simple math operations like:
A+B
A-B
A^B
cos
sin

etc. Basically scripting my own per pixel math operations on the textures.

Any help on where to start would be greatly appreciated.
