New Search Functionality Unveiled

81 votes

I am proud to announce an entirely new search system is available on ScriptSpot. The new search engine runs on the Amazon cloud computing service so it's fast, allows for easy filtering of searches and provides content recommendations for similar content. Technologically speaking this is a huge advancement and will serve as a foundation for changes in the years to come.

10 Years - In Search Of A Logo

78 votes

A component of the regular UI changes has been the changing / improving (IMHO) of the ScriptSpot logo. While early logo attempts were certainly not the best from a graphic design POV they also didn't do much to define what the site was.

The current logo is based on the idea that ScriptSpot is a global community. The dots surrounding the large blue ball signify people - like you - all around the world who contribute their tools for the rest of us to use on ScriptSpot.

10 Years - The Changing Face of ScriptSpot

79 votes

One thing that has changed dramatically from the early days of ScriptSpot is the interface. The original site was basically a glorified Excel file displayed in a web browser - there was no ranking, no searching, no comments and no way to add content. When ScriptSpot started I had no idea it would grow into the community it has thus the interface has changed with the needs of the site. With more and more content we needed a better way to filter out what we didn't want, a better way to search, a way to communicate and a way to participate.

MAXScript Cheat Sheet

This is a fantastic 2 page reference (written by Markus Boos) for those starting out with MAXScript!

From the site description:

Ever try exploring the power of MAXSCRIPT? If it seems too confusing to attempt, try this 2-page cheat sheet that covers most of the major concepts in one easy to read reference, courtesy of MAXSCRIPT guru Markus Boos (one of 20 authors of the 3DATS 3ds Max Advanced to Expert book)

on-site scripter needed, 1-2 months, Los Angeles

Not sure if this is the best forum to post in but I'm looking for a scripter for 1-2 months to help integrate Max into a Python based pipeline. The nature of our needs requires the person to work on site. Remote is unfortunately not an option. Scope of work includes:

- integrate with our naming convention and versioning system (possibly a custom file save/open dialog)
- develop geo-caching workflow from Maya to Max
- resolve coordinate system flip issues
- create tool to adjust/update cache locations based on scene version

autoVP - MouseOver Viewport Switcher

50 votes

autoVP automatically switches the active viewport to the viewport the mouse is hovering over. This allows you to interact much faster with manipulators in that viewport, select objects, get properties, etc.

Script can be used 'as is' as well as be accessed by scripters (e.g. the function to get the viewport under the mouse is exposed).

FlyWiz - Vray Flythrough animation wizard 1.1

57 votes

This tool manages for you all the boring stuff to achieve a flythrough animation with Max And Vray.
All changes are made in the engine to help you control and render each necessary step.

Finally it can also do all the process in one click !
