Creates a Character Studio Biped rigg based on a Valve rigg made with standard bones.
Biped limbs are scaled to the size of each bone. Position and orientation are copied from each bone too.
Biped COM are created at the Pelvis bone position but not scaled or oriented.
Biped Pelvis are scaled to replicate the Thighs position, but oriented as default bipeds.
Original bone rigg must stand on Z = 0.0
all meshes with a skin modifier are copied from originals but cotroled by the new biped.
the list of bones to find comes from \\Scripts\\GameToBiped\\Presets\\ValveBiped01.btf

Additional Info:

Downloaded file must be extracted at 3DS MAX Script directory, in my case:
"D:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\Scripts"

It does not work with twisted bones. ONLY: 1 Upperarm + 1 Forearm

Version Requirement:
3D Studio MAX 2010 32 or 64 bits

sorry guys, the implementation of this script is not flexible enough to adapt to new riggs.
I have to create a database for each one and for that I should be familiar with it.
I' good with Character Studio only.

Hello Fernando

I have same request, if is possible to make DAZ Studio 4 - fbx export character bones preset, would be great beacause your script have a great potential :) (and what about "save" preset directly over your script?)

Thanks for responding. (I'll link to it anyway :P )

You could potentially set it up with some default CAT Rig that has specific names... perhaps one of the default human rigs that comes with CAT. The default CAT rig Bip01 has all the same names of a default biped (I believe).

The main reason for me is that this is essentially solving the same dilemma that I'm asked about a lot... and I'm more interested in using CAT overall than biped. (And I'm also more interested in not spending the time to do it :) )

Hi hakim_the1,

Do you know Motionbuilder has a template to characterize riggs from Daz 4 Genesis?
May be this is the better workflow for your problem

Hi Shawn Olson,

CAT does not have a unique named hierarchy, like Biped. So, there are a lot of work to do. Not enough free time, sorry.

CAT

Add support for CAT and I will add a link to this into Wall Worm.
