MultyConvertor - allow to convert any materials, lights (objects) of any renders to any materials, lights (objects) and renders!!! It is all in one.

You can simple create *.mct (edit text file in any text editors and change extension) file for new render and facilities that support this type of rendering. See any *.mct in archive

Now you start the script and setup link properties from one render type to other. You can also use expression for translate value to other value or execute any max script expression.

For example: we have 100% value for opasity in Standart material and should be write for Vray transparent color:

[x/255.0, x/255.0, x/255.0]

x - value of Standard material opasity and result color for Vray transparent property.

Also convertor allow glboal change any parameters in scene. Simple setup the property from and to. Example:


Database saved in proplink.mcl and matlink.mcl

Be careful! The convertor is very powerful and can do many things. I do not even know all its capabilities.

In which category of the Costumize UI can I find the script ? Or how else can I create a shortcut button ?
Except for running the script manually every time ?

BTW, Great script. Is there a way to add the Gamma utility shader to convert non Linear materials to Linear workflow materials ?

The last version allow to setup convert ligts object. As far as I know my friends (from Russia) have done for this conversion. If you figured out with the script that this link is assembled base transformation of materials to date. Vray <-> ScanLine <-> MentalRay.... About 100 properties collected. (~50 Vray <-> MRay Pro materials) I try to periodically update it when it comes news ties. I am not very familiar with the materials - it should make those who are well versed in the materials rendering. I also hope that the 3d community around the world will be able to jointly solve this problem. I did something like the engine - is left to fill it with fuel. Maybe this is not ideal but it's still so far I think the most optimal solution. Last version and property database  here.

It's funny how this script

It's funny how this script was posted a month and a half ago and just came and went so quickly & quietly.

I've been looking at this in detail today and IMHO this script could very well be the future of all material conversions in Max. You might not realize it but it lets you wire up conversions between materials (amongst other things) of any type to any type.

There are some quirks - it's a bit complicated to get going right away (at least it was for me) since I wanted to see about converting "Pro Materials" to VRay materials which involved putting some material class names into the preset files. I see no reason though why we as a community couldn't collectively write some conversion presets and share em here so once and for all Max users have a good way to convert between different materials - within the same material conversion script.
