Outliner

Version:
2.1.5
Date Updated:

The Outliner 2.0 is a fast and easy to use scene management tool. It has a wide range of features, including selecting, hiding, freezing, linking and grouping objects in the "Hierarchy Mode". In the "Layer Mode" you can organize your scene by dragging&dropping objects from one layer to the other. What's more, the Outliner offers support for nested layers, to manage scenes more efficiently. The interface is nimble enough to keep it open constantly.

Additional Info:

Compared to the previous version (1.6.1), there are many improvements. Most notable among them are: hugely increased performance, improved stability, nested layer support and many small tweaks to improve the ease of use. For a list of all changes, click here

Something like alt-clicking

Something like alt-clicking the hide button (or node icon) propagating the values down to the childnodes, that could work quite easily I think.

Does this camera have a special name? Or even better if you can somehow figure it out: does it have a special class?

Also as a feature request, could an option be added to automatically toggle the display state of child objects? So when a parent object's display is toggled off, it would be very helpful to have an option setting to turn on, so that the child object's display state is turned off.

thanks

Hello, It looks like there is

Hello,

It looks like there is a bug with using Outliner in combination with a spaceball like device. I am using Space Navigator by 3dconnexion, and I think the problem is that when using a device like this, it temporarily creates a camera in the scene to use to move you around. When it does this the camera momentarily shows up in the scene hierarchy, which is what appears to be giving a problem. The problem is that navigation in the viewport is not possible as long as Outliner is open. The viewport fps is less is like 1fps. The problem goes away when Outliner is closed. The problem exists too when using the built in Scene Explorer, although not near as bad. I don't know that there is anything the 3dconnexion people can do, but I would think one possible solution is to somehow filter this temporary camera out of the scene hierarchy to begin with. Any thoughts on that?

thx

I've uploaded 2.0.6, fixing a pretty serious issue when using the "convert object to" functionality after having had the Outliner open.

I've uploaded update 2.0.5. You can get it by using the "Check now" button in the options dialog, or alternatively, download it directly. If you update through the Outliner, it'll show that the latest version is 3.0, this is wrong and is merely to solve an issue with the updates.
