Description

Paint Pot

Updateds!

  • I just added support for Corona materials.
  • I have just added the RAL colour codes, I am considering adding the Panton colours if there is interested.

Paint Pot is a really simple script intended to make it easier when dealing design schemes from architects and designers. It has a database of about 15000 thousand paints which can be looked up by name or paint code. When you selected a paint it will display a swatch and the RGB values. You can also hit the button and get a really simple V-Ray material or a standard material. To find the paint you are after select the brand from the dropdown box and start typing.

If you have other paint brands you would like added to it just let me know and I will do my best to get them in there.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update. I have been super busy with work so updates have been slow. There was an issue with download links a while ago but they have since been corrected.

Cheers,
Dave

Updates?

DotScott1 · 2015-02-05

Just checking to see if there have been any updates yet..? We're still looking forward to having the new libraries! :)

Link to update broken

3dwannab · 2014-12-07

On your website the link is down. It just says ' [download id=”7″ format=”1″]' where the link should be.

My website has been updated and the download links with it.

great script.
What I would like to see besides the RAl colors are NCS colors!
then it is perfect.

thanks for your effort.

Those paints should not be a problem to add. The next release I will put the script in .mzp so it installs itself. New release should be in the next day or so.

Dave

Sherwin Williams Colors?

DotScott1 · 2014-11-20

This is awesome! Any possibility of adding a Sherwin Williams list (one of the biggest in America)? Those are the #1 requested paint color references I get.

dandg · 2014-11-20

Yes! Should not be too much trouble.

How to apply script to toolbar

Kurai · 2014-11-21

Thanks Dave. All help is appreciated....

I have took the bold step of coverting completely from Vray to Corona cos the colour mapping is much better. Thing is, everything is Vray on the net which is a pain when you download models with Vray mats. I have to convert everything to Corona.

So any Corona support is most appreciated.

I spent a couple of hours last night trying to run the script. I have the script in "Daves tools" but when I apply to toolbar I get an error message..."Cannot find PaintPot". I am probably running the script wrong. This is a script I must have at hand.

I know you get lots of requests to add paint libraries... and you cannot please everyone... but, as a designer I find companies like Dulux give too much choice and their colours are too bold. I like to narrow it down to a few companies to give clients less choice so they can make selections easier. The ones I use are: Farrow & Ball, Paint Library and Kelly Hoppen Paints. These are popular with interior designers.

If you could add these it would be brillaint :)

I am happy to add any paint brand so long as I can find an index of the their paints, paint codes and RGB values. I have written a couple html scapers to get this data in the past or scripts to go through the data in a PDF etc. If you are able to post some links to specific "lists" of paints and paint codes I am happy to add them.

Cheers,
Dave

Yep thats perfect. They will be in the next release for sure.

Help...

Kurai · 2014-11-20

I don't know how to add the script to a toolbar. Is there a simplier way rather than how you explained it? I don't like doing anything out of the ordinary since I mess things up.

I am an interior designer and this could be useful.
I am also grateful you have added support for CORONA.

fajar · 2014-11-03

sorry for my english , from the first point : what I mean is , in your current script , when I select ex:"dulux" brand...in the listview didnt display anything except after I write something in search textbox, am I right ? the point I wrote mean simply when I select dulux brand ,the listview display all color that available under dulux brand, rather displaying empty listview. did you get that ?

Sorry if my english is bad and thanks for the script.

Good Color library maxscript

fajar · 2014-11-03

1. Is it possible to load all listed color in specific brand first rather than empty color in listview when I select some specific brand from dropdown menu ? Frequently designer want to experiment with all possible color rather specific color first.

2. is it possible to create material name like : brand:color name:code ex: "dulux:abbot:p11a9" rather than "vraymtl" or "standardmtl" only ? later when designer want to know what color name n brand they just had to pick get material from selected object, in case they forgot or client ask what color is it, from which brand ? n etc.

Thanks , its good library color script, very useful for architect n interior designer.

Can you expand on your first point as I am little unclear what you are after. Secondly, yes, that is no problem I will update the script overnight.

Cheers,
Dave

dandg · 2014-11-13

I have updated the script so the material name follows this pattern: - .

I will have a think about how best to implement your first recommendation.

fajar · 2014-11-13

Thanks dave.

dandg · 2014-11-19

No worries. Glad I could help.
