Thanks Matyrix!
Very useful script. I am sure I will use it frequently. Works great!
Pewi: This is only a .mse
Pewi: This is only a .mse script file, not a .mcr macro script file. But you are right, there must be a macro script, so i created it. Download and unrar the file: http://matyrix.com/random_selector_v3.1_mcr.rar
Drag the .mcr file into the viewport, and check the script in the Random_Selector category, you will find it.
Just keep in mind, both of files in the .rar must be in the same place.
V-MOTION: Thanks!

nice script!
idea for an update:
if you have 100 boxes, and want to randomly assign materials, it would be an idea to not have the already randomly selected objects go in the pool. So if you want to assign 10 random groups a material, you can quickly go through the selections that are saved in a dropdown and assign modifiers or materials. Would save and automate the workflow of having to manually assign a selection set, hiding them reselecting all objects, generating a new selection set, and this 10x.

Hi! Great script, thanks!
I think you should add an About-rollout where you put info about yourself.
Also, I'm having a hard time finding it and assigning it to a button or a shortcut in the Customize User Interface. Under what category should I look?
