ok, thanks a lot for this report. if you want you may replace this line with this:

theMultiMat[theMultiMat.materialIDList[m]].opacity_texmap = OpacityMap[1]

Thanks a lot!

for updating the script!

Fo me it works perfectly. Only one minor issue: When a selected object has a multmaterial with a submaterial containing a falloff map in the opacity slot the script crashes with "Unknown property: "opacityMap" in VrayLightMtl:VrayLightMtl"
The script opens with line 933 highlighted:
theMultiMat[theMultiMat.materialIDList[m]].opacityMap = OpacityMap[1]

Thanks again

ok, thanks.
i will see what happening, i don't have V-Ray Next but before sharing the script here, my friend from Chaos Group test the script and everything working fine.

So, try this please:
select some objects try to make mask (Luminance) but turn on "SAVE Mask in 3dsmax File", then open the file and look the material of the objects, i need to know:
- what material these objects have (Standard, VrayLightMtl, VrayMtl, etc.)
- what is diffuse color of the material

I would be grateful if you could share this information with me.

thanks man.

if you wish send me email.

modification

Thank you very much :) here is a link with the modified version of your script :

https://www.sendspace.com/file/sakr3a

As a reminder here are the modifications : possibility to use max frame buffer instead of the VFB to preserve history and avoid color mapping on masks & option to preserve material on selected objetcts (very useful to allow rendering of an object behind glasses !)

Cheers !
