Introduction

Hello there,

Just a quick introduction to who/what I am, and what I am not.

I am 45 years old and after several jobs, including a stint in HM Armed Forces, I worked in IT for a "Government Institution" for over 10 years until I was made redundant a little over 5 years ago.

Since then I have been unable to work, for health reasons, and after pursuing several hobbies I settled on Paper Modeling. This lead, inevitably, to an interest in 3D Modeling and the use of 3D applications (primarily Metsequoia and SoftImage) to make lovely box-shaped tanks and whatnot that I could print out, glue together and then play tabletop wargames with my daughters who, sadly, both soon decided that boys were much more interesting than their Dad and his little paper soldiers.

(I bought one of them £120 worth of Games Workshop boxsets for their birthday 7 years ago and they are still sealed!)

With my programming knowledge (going way back to 1982) I started dabbling in SoftImage scripting and eventually began to be asked to produce scripts for other people, which is how I began writing scripts in MaxScript, some 2 months ago, and ended up releasing one of them here on ScriptSpot.

It may surprise you to know that I don't actually use Max. In fact, my knowledge of Max is so limited that I had to ask someone else to create the example splines I needed to create the script!! I can make a box in Max and, well, that's about it :/

Welcome to the max world

Nick,

Your spline-2-poly looks BRILLIANT. It reminds me of NURB rails. With MAD skills like that you should have more work then you'd want.

If you ever need any max stuff just ask.
