What this script do:

This script allow you to select grid type and manage its size.

How to use it:

There are three scripts included:

  • Set Grid Type - this script setting up the grid type;
  • Increase Grid - this script increasing the grid size;
  • Decrease Grid - this script decreasing the grid size;

First of all you need to set which grid you would like to use. You have two availible options:

It is recommended if you add 'Set Grid Type' to a toolbar or a quad menu. You can assign a shortcut to it but it probably would be inconvinient since you will not be using it very ofter, unlike other two scripts included here.

You will see the current grid size in the top right section of the veiwport:

Now using 'Increase Grid' and 'Decrease Grid' script you can control the grid size from the avalible presets.

Tested on 3ds Max 2023 and 2024

Installation:

Drag/Drop .ms file on 3ds max viewport or run it via 'Scripting-> Run Script...'. Go to "Customize User Interface" or to "Hotkey Editor", in 'Category' called 'Custom' there will be 'Set Grid Type' assing it to a toolbar and assign hotkeys to 'Increase Grid'  and 'Decrease Grid' ('[' and ']' recommended).
