Looking for 3ds Max scripter

What we’re looking for
Design Connected is searching for a seasoned, full-time 3ds Max scripter to join our compact team. The position is remote (preferably in the GMT+0 to GMT+3 time zones) or in our office in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The required full tech stack is outlined below.

The Technical stuff
Let’s begin with a quick overview — we are developing a quite complex modular software, which is plug-in oriented. We offer a number of integrations with modeling software products with a big focus on Autodesk 3ds Max.

Here are the skills we look for:
- Extended experience with MaxScript is a must.
- Knowledge of Python is advisable.

Our desktop software is ever-growing and expanding with new integrations and updates of the existing ones. Experience with Python will give you a chance to work on these projects as well. Still, 3ds Max will remain a primary focus.

In general, the product that you will be developing is quite unique and requires creative thinking. It’s used by a wide range of professionals — from architects, through VFX artists and game creators. This poses very interesting challenges as the end-users are highly skilled and demanding.

What it’s like here
As a 3ds Max scripter at Design Connected, you will be involved in the in-house development of Connecter — a Windows desktop digital assets manager that’s loved by thousands of CGI artists and studios around the world. Your contribution will help them work faster, smarter, and with less stress.

Of course, you have to be good at what you do, but we also value character and attitude as much as pure technical skills. Here’s what we’re looking for in a 3ds Max scripter:

- Flexible: we’re a small team working on a complex project, so you may need to switch between multiple tasks
- Opinionated: we often make discussions about features, where your word will weight as much as everyone’s
- Good at giving and receiving feedback: because that’s the way to continuously improve our product
- Proactive: we care deeply about what we do and when we see opportunities or problems, we act
- Human-oriented: we create software that serves people’s needs and we listen closely to their feedback

Are you a fit?
If you think that you want to work on Connecter, email us at [email protected] and attach a CV or send us a link to your LinkedIn profile. We will appreciate it if you share a few words why you think you would be a good fit for our team. It might take some time, but we’ll do our best to get back to you.

We also want to be clear about something — Design Connected is an unconventional company. It’s a relatively small group of individuals with quite different profiles, who have been working together for ages. Literally.

At our core, we are all creatives. You will be collaborating not only with the dev team but with 3d artists and designers that are involved in the building and testing of Connecter.
Needless to say that we are not only specializing in software development. That’s probably why we don’t do things, because “that’s how it’s done in Google/Amazon/Facebook”. We do what feels right for us and the community that uses our products. Just like us, they are all very visually oriented so we focus on the design and the overall experience.

Here, you have the chance to work on one of the best apps in a relativеly niche category. The work is demanding but never rushed. It’s a place where things happen at the right pace to make sure they are always great and satisfying once they’re done. That’s why we don’t just “ship” updates every week and don’t go head-over-heels into quick fixing small issues.
