Convert selectByNameV3 from ActiveX to DotNet

I hope this is the correct forum, but anyone interested in converting this script from ActiveX to DotNet?

It's a pretty cool and fast alternative to the built'in Select from scene, considering that it doesn't block focus and you can work with it active. Also, when you select something it will be automatically selected in viewport, or vice-versa. You can also hide/unhide/freeze/unfreeze inside it.

What do you think? Is it worth it?

It works under max9 but not with 2012.

Thanks!

Well, i tried Outliner some

Well, i tried Outliner some time ago but mostly due to the nested layer feature but i had to give it up.
Anyway, i get the point, no one is willing to spend time with rewriting a tool when probably there are better alternatives out there.

Either way, i've started converting by my self "by ear" and got it partially running. Well , maybe i can learn some maxscript this way :)

Yes U are right. For learning purpose you can try to rewrite this tool but Outliner offer much more then any layer managment tool. And is free.
But if you are looking for pro solution then you should try this
