Target Weld Collapse

This is probably super easy but I would like essentially Target Weld only it Collapses the two verts to the averaged middle instead of to the target. Instead of picking two points and pressing Collapse or hitting a hotkey I just want to be in a tool "mode" and keep on clicking.

I was looking at pickPoint in the Maxscript help but couldn't figure it out. Thanks for any help!
