Are there "Mates" in Max like Solidworks has? ....Or something like it?

Greets,

I've recently been giving 3DS Max a go, after having been a Solidworks user for some time. From what I have heard & seen, Max's renders trounce Solidworks!

However, there is a small problem when I am trying to make my models move in Max.

All the mates that were created in Solidworks are broken. No suprise since the file format has to be changed to get it into Max. But it is making my life a living hell.

For those not in the know, Solidworks is mostly a mechanical engineering design program, so it has "mates" options, which tells parts how to move in relation to each other, like pneumatic cylinders sliding inside each other, and even pushing against a third part, like a scoop, tire, or what have you.

Is there any way to easily set this back up in Max? I've been searching the net for the past couple days between work, and have not had the best luck. Most everything I have found has to do with key framing and animating things that way. I am trying to rig my model so I can drag on one part and have it move physically correct without parts flying everywhere or moving out of place.

Thank you all very much for any tips you can send my way

A very sleep deprived old coot
