DotNet Demystified - Part 1

34 votes

Just posted on Lonerobot.net is the first part of a series of beginner's DotNet tutorials. If you've been struggling with dotnet classes and are unsure of what the difference between a class and an object is, this tutorial could help get you on the way to achieving the most out of dotnet in 3dsMax.

Dotnet Demystified Part 1

Automated randomly generated number decals. Script + procedural material.

This post details how I set up an automated decal numbering system. A random number is assigned to a dummy object that matches a name convention and any decal objects attached to that dummy assume the same ID. The ID can be used for material assignment purposes, in this case it is to drive a sprite sheet that renders that number to a material.

At a minimum the script should be a good jump point for automating parts of procedural artwork.

3DS Max - V Ray 6 - Bring Back V Ray Quad Menu

In V-Ray 6, the Chaos group decided to remove the V-Ray quad menu options, where you had many features. To find them, now you have to use the V-Ray menu on the main menu toolbar. But, if you like to have these options back again in your quad menu, this tutorial is for you.

Note: The solution that you'll find in the video I made 6 years ago, doesn't work anymore, I'm talking about this one: https://youtu.be/_TjxBNJaW_w

3DS Max - V Ray - VRayRenderID + Photoshop

-1 vote

In this tutorial, we will learn about the VRayRenderID render element, where you can create a separate file for the rendered image, and this file will contain a distinct matte color for each object in the scene. This is useful when doing a post-production in software like Photoshop, for example, because you can isolate every single object, and work on it separately.

Rig / Animate tanks

Hi everyone,

"Gearing" is a 3ds Max script, helpful by rigging and animating of tanks, excavators, dredges etc.
The new version supports automatic path following, acceleration / deceleration.
The script is commercial. I intend to add a demo to the new edition, however the 1 st version comes with a limited demo.
The next two tutorials introduce the script's basics.
If you take interest in this area you may watch them at:
