"skeletools is a collection of tools to make bone creation and setup in 3ds max 4 easier. Features include:

  • Reroot bones changes your bones hierarchy organization by changing which bone is the parent bone.
  • Connect Bones connects two bones by extending a new bone from the selected bone to the picked bone.
  • Combine Bone links the selected bone to a picked bone - and repositions the selected bone to the picked bone's endpoint.
  • Extend Bone links the selected bone to a picked bone - and extends the selected bone to the picked bone's endpoint. [update]: The extended bone is no longer stretched after it was extended.
  • Remove Bone deletes the selected bone and extends its child to its parent's endpoint and parenting it.
  • Remove BoneXP (Extends Parent :) ) deletes the selected bone and extending its parent's endpoint to its child.
  • Delete Bone deletes the selected bone and creating a small bone at the parent's endpoint. Thus - you can still assign IK solver to the parent bone.
  • Unlink Bone unlinks the selected bone from its parent and creating a small bone at the parent's endpoint. Thus - you can still assign IK solver to the parent bone.
  • Reset Bone Stretch - is a quicker way of resetting bone stretch - rather than doing it through the bone options dialog
  • Create End Bone - creates a small bone at the selected bone's endpoint.
