Sort Render Elements
This script will place your Render Element files in named subfolders according to where the main pass is stored and what the name of the Render Element is.
Example:
Main pass is set to render to:
C:\myProject\renderoutput
Rendered Elements like Alpha, Specular, Diffuse etc. will be placed at:
C:\myProject\renderoutput\Alpha
C:\myProject\renderoutput\Specular
C:\myProject\renderoutput\Diffuse
etc.
Enable this script as a Pre-Render script:
Render Setup Dialog -> Common Tab -> Scripts -> Pre-Render -> browse for the script file

awesome
nice script !!! I was always looking for it :) In Maya it is already possible to save the Render Elements into sub-folder. But not in Max
When I set the "Save Files" output path for the first time, the render elements will get the correct name according to the name set in "Save Files". When I change the footage name in "Save Files" the first name stays for new render elements. Nevertheless they are stored correctly in the new folder.
I am working with Max 2012. Is it a Max/Vray issue or the script? thx
a very time saver script
a very time saver script indeed. although my only problem is that, if i decided to make a new save render output file with an exsisting render elements in it, the render elements` output path doesn`t follow the new save output path and instead it still use the previews path. i hope you could help me with this. thanks a lot.
