zsScaleTools
- DISPLAY the real dimensions of selected objects (with transformations) or the selection bounding box
- SCALE objects to exact dimensions in world units, object rotation can be ignored
- UNIFY the dimensions of objects in selection to min / center / max values (per axis)
Display the real dimensions (with scaling) of selected objects and scale them to exact values in world units. Red brackets indicate that objects with varying dimensions are selected. In this case, the size of the selection bounding box is displayed (same as option Selection Bound.).
Works also on rotated objects (option Use Local Coordinate System).
If Tooltips is enabled, the corresponding values are displayed as tooltips on each button in the 'Unify'-section.
With Scale Object Distance checked, objects in selection are scaled about the selection center.
Deactivating Tooltips increases performance on large selections.
The linked file contains the script as maxscript (.ms) and macrosript (.mcr).
v1.00: Initial release
v1.10: "Scale Object Distance" added, minor bugfixes

Here you go...
With "Scale Object Distance" checked, the selection now behaves like a collapsed object with the selection center as pivot. Only rotated objects lead to slightly different results.
But you have to be a bit careful: if you change the selection or hit "Refresh", the original object positions get lost...
Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you for the feedback. Scaling a group to exact dimensions is pretty complex if more than 2 objects are selected. But scaling the object distance (in relation to the selection pivot) would be possible. I will think about this...
Scale group
Great script Jan. Again, one of those scripts that should come as default with 3dsmax.
As a feature request, what do you think of proportional scale of a group of objects?
Right now the script scales the objects by their pivot; a option to proportionally scale the distance would be useful, else the user should have to collapse the objects to resale them as a group.
Thanks
