custom attribute listbox remembering its values?

Hey,
I have a listbox in a custom attribute rollout, that i can add objects to by using a pickbutton. When i deselect the listbox, all the items are gone. Is there an easy way to make it remember what i added to it? Like adding a parameter that is an array and able to store the items?
