Helium is a Schematic Framework that allows you to create Flow-chart
User Interfaces within 3dsmax, via maxscript. Please see the help file
and example scripts installed by the installer for further instructions
on how to use helium.

To
make sure the picture above is not misleading. Helium by itself does
not provide a schematic material editor or any other finished schematic
tools.

It is, as mentioned, a schematic framework to make it
easier for others to build schematic tools. Consider helium like any
other maxscript UI control, like a button or a spinner, granted a far
more powerful one. Helium can even be used to create dynamic custom
UIs. Each helium node could easily be used as a button, for example.
This allows you to dynamically build and alter your UIs at any time.
Helium nodes can be completely customised visually by using your own
bitmaps, colors and shapes instead of the default nodes shown in the
picture.
