Copy Paste DWG

I just made the move to Bricscad and was able to set it up pretty much the same as Autocad put have some minor ajustement to deal with..CopyPaste is a very nice script and was very useful for me. I was wondering if it's a major change to be able to switch the app that we use to copy the dwg from?

Full version has an option to choose clipboard methods - please try to right-click on Taskbar and choose method 2. Let me know if that works with Bricscad

Yes, it works with DraftSight already.

Full version detect last dwg clipboard automatically.
Lite version has a button on top to switch between AutoCad and DraftSight

2. imorting text - I have some ideas how to do do this(, but ist a bit of work. So all depends how many ppl needs it. Please let me know how important it is.

Also finishing Copy form newer versions of AutoCAD to older max - will publish it soon. For now rougth version only. Let me know if more ppl want to test it.

Text is very important when importing from archi docs : altimetry for example.
But it would be great to have just basic text, as light as possible, just for info.

I bought the script and was running in some trouble, using AutoCAD 2018 and 3ds max 2016 and contacted pixamoon with the request to help me.
Within just a few hours i received an email back with some files and a VERY detailed description how to create a solution.
10 min later everything works as expected and i have to say that this is a a real time saver when working with CAD files

As a sidenote, i do owe several pixamoon plugins/scripts and they are all worth every cent. Functionality and support is top notch!!!!

The script has worked for me for months but has been malfunctioning for some time now. No matter what you try to copy to 3dmax, always copy an old spline and do not copy anything new. Any solution?

It looks like old bug. It should be fixed in new versions: v1.20 and up. Which version do you use?

Please try "A" instead (left side from "Paste" button). When is checked script will paste automatically every Ctrl+C from Auto Cad

Yes, there is an option to buy with debit/credit card next to paypal button.

hope can got a function "move to center", sometime imported cad file is very far from 0,0,0, if got a check box can choose will be much easier than move it manually.

When I press paste I always get "Nothing to paste" message.

1. I have Autocad 2016 and 3ds max 2016 SP1
2. I tried toggling all the options, same result...
3. I tried copying different drawings, always getting "Nothing to paste" message.

I know that you have "Favorite Script" and maybe many people like it, but I'm sure that you should add optional MacroScript for people who don't want to install one script just to install another :)

I wrote macro for myself and added it here for people like me.
This macro ignores version numbers, so people can update script without butthurt.

main idea about "Favorite scripts" was to not have so many buttons on toolbar
+ to have the same scripts in all max versions (if you have older 2013, 2014 etc)
+ same scripts updated in office (all from on network location)
+ same scripts at home as in office (just place scripts on dropbox)

I think it's nice idea, but not for me :) I tried it, but I didn't find it useful. I like my own buttons and I like my own quads, nothing personal.

For freaks like me you better to add Macro. This simple step will add you more users. Maybe it is a second script to install first, but it's not similar to FavoriteScript install method, and this is how Autodesk understands usability :)

I'm just trying to tell you, that people have the right to choose how to install your scripts. For noobs there is no habitually way to use your script. You don't need to force people to install FavScr, I'm sure it will find its users anyway.

but I think I know the problem...
It start to happened after I changed import method for non admin users.

I'll try to fix that later today or tomorrow.

For now please use older version v0.26 or v0.27 (they have older paste method)

Still no luck. Tried 0.27, 0.26, 0.27.1 (for nonadmin). Tried starting Max with admin rights.

Oops! I found some sort of solution. Turn off Unlink blocks and it imports fine. But Lite version doesn't remember settings, so I can't tell that this is the best solution :)

I found this behavior only when Import options has "Derive AutoCAD Primitives by": "One Object"

can you try to change it to "Layer", "Color" or something different then "One Object"?

I have only Lite version. Right now is 0.28. I unchecked all checkboxes except Unlink blocks and error still here.

try to check "Import options" and choose something different than "Derive AutoCAD Primitives by": "One Object"

Hello. I used this script from the very beginning and I was happy! Until some moment... I think this moment was when you create lite version, but I could be wrong.

Obviously you changed something and script became almost unusable, because when I copy piece of AutoCad drawing with some text inside then script can't import it in max. Not just text, but whole drawing! So if I select only drawing in Cad then all ok, but if I add some text to selection then script imports no drawing at all. This is really WRONG :) 3dsMax can't import Cad text, but it can somehow exclude it and import rest drawing.

Nobody doesn't want to delete all text objects or deselect them in Cad before copying.

new v1.10 saves also dialog position.

I just test it with text and it works fine here.
But I tested 0.28 here again and it works fine when you try to copy with text.
Did you try to save dwg with text (old way) and import it to max ?

Unfortunately it doesn't help me.

More info. AutoCad 2014, 3dsMax 2014. Here is link to simple dwg file. When I just drag it to 3dsMax viewport then it imports like this. All ok. But script still doesn't work that way.

New lite version 1.1 doesn't help. Still the same behavior

I think I found the problem! It's not a text object. Script ignores simple text objects and import drawing as it should.

The problem is in object that have text "test1" in my dwg file. It's some kind of annotation. Test it please.

Nice script and idea but what is missing is being able to change units (rescale option)
somethime autocad files are drawn in different units than the 3ds max scene...so the rescale option is important :)

Right now script use standard import DWG function and as I know there is no simple way to import text from dwg. But I'll look on it closer and will try to find the way around to import text.

I tried here with different user settings, also I tried with Standard user account and all works good here. (Win 7 Pro)

oki, I'll fix that soon, Did you try v0.27.1 I uploaded yesterday ? It has method to load clipboard from Autocad.

Also does it create Error message or just paste nothing ?

For now please use 3ds Max as Administrator, or disable User Account Control (Control Panel -> User Accounts)

Please let me know if more ppl has this issue too. (+ which versions etc)

Great your ver. pxm-Copy Paste DWG-v0.27.1 - test for non admin users work perfectly for non admin user.

Previous ver. pxm-Copy Paste DWG-v0.27 gave no message just does not paste (for non admin user)

I use 3ds max 2104 x64 autocad 2014 x64 and win 7

Thanks for the quick release, I have some notes ..
- The new features are great already but the pop-up dialog is really annoying and I'm sure you will fix it at the final release ..
- Everything is working fine with me at 3ds Max 2014 and AutoCAD 2016 So if anyone has problem with newer release of AutoCAD you just need to change "File Save" option at AutoCAD to lower version ..
- Regarding to the next new feature "make blocks unique", I'm a little confused if the blocks are NOT going to be instances anymore? I need them to be instances but without any parent child relationship exactly like this script http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/dwg-cleanup

- dialog - yes there will be two scripts, one with dialog (to change defaults), second without dialog - (but will load recently used settings)
or... do you mean to remove it totally ?

1. remove child/parent relationship for blocks
2. make all unique

# for dialog: I wish if your settings (remove materials - group layers - .. etc) to pop up just once (at the first time launch ) then I don't want to see it again when pasting (Settings will be saved to .ini file) ..
for example: "ActiveType"  script has the exact behavior and I can change the settings later

I think there will be Lite and Full versions. Lite version will have most of features (copy/paste/clean etc). If anybody want to support me -> Full version will cost $4,50 I hope is reasonable price. What you think about it ?

New version is coming with extra dialog to choose paste settings. It will load and save last settings (ini file).
So if you always use the same you can just press "Paste"

Making blocks unique... of course, it's one of simple tasks in Free version, but there will be much nicer new features too :p soon...

Good suggestion. I've just added it as extra second version.

Now there are two versions available:
-with scale dialog - standard import dwg dialog
-without scale dialog - to skip dialog if scale is chosen already
