New member, and n00b in scripting

Hi, I am learning the beasics in MaxScript. I am still at the "create sphere, add turbosmooth" level. I did a tutorial in Max where I created geometry shaped like a sun with rays. However, I didn`t fully understand what I did, so I could use a tutorial wich explains the absolute basics in creating shapes.

Does anyone knows about a tutorial like this? I would be grateful for help :)
