Attach jumbles Material IDs

I had looked around on google and in the maxscript help pretty thoroughly before resorting to making a thread here.

When I attach all of my objects together I lose all of my Material IDs.
I have tried both polyop.attach and meshop.attach and can't get them to stick.

However if I attach manually I can choose the "Do Not Modify Material or IDs" and it works fine but those setting seem to not exist in maxscript.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ah! I found a workaround. :D

Ah! I found a workaround. :D If you remove the materials from the objects, then attach, all your material ids stay intact!
