info from maxfile without opening

I've got a question. Wich info can I get retrieve from a maxfile without opening?
All I find now is
getMAXFileObjectNames
Is that it?

Is it possible to know the class of an object without opening?
the method getMAXFileObjectNames gives an array of strings..
I want to list the camera's from maxfiles without opening.
