question about advanced texture mapping
Hello everyone,
I have a problem, and I can't find the solution:
let's say I have a big plane in my scene that represents a water surface.
it has a displacement shader with a noise map to simulate sea motion. I also have a boat, witch is animated along water surface.
What I wan't to do is project a map onto the water surface to add the boat trail to the displacement. For now I do that with a camera map per pixel. and it works fine , as long as my boat is travelling in a straight direction.
But if I want my boat to do some twist and turns, this solution is not viable anymore. I would like to be able "deform" the projection.
Do you guys see a solution where I could use some animated geometry to project mapping coordinates onto the water? I tried to add a projection modifier, but it doesn't seem to be what I need.
I looked in maxscript reference at "TVert" related functions, it seems a little tedious to me; do you think they would be useful to develop such a tool like what I need ?
I hope I am being clear ....
I will try to post some screenshots to explain better what I mean
cheers
