What are the user points ?
I have 30 points & Anubis has nearly 7000.
I click the link "view" next to anyone's points..and the page states "restricted access..must login", the funny thing is; I am logged in.
Anyways..just to bother with my reason for posting;
What are these points for ?
How do some people have negative points ?
In my profile, in the points section, there is a link titled "Insert" ..what does that do ?
Thanks for an answer and I apologize if I overlooked something.

No apologies necessary - if it's documented somewhere it's very brief...
User points are a way of encouraging participation - it's sometimes referred to as karma in other forum software... Basically you are awarded points automatically for voting on things (clicking the + vote on scripts), commenting or posting your own content. Some sites use userpoints as a form of pseudo currency but on ScriptSpot it's more of a way to see how much people have helped. For instance - anubis has answered a ton of questions on the forum in addition to posting scripts which is why he holds the crown with nearly 7000 points...
I'm not sure why you're getting an "access denied" page - that doesn't make much sense... I'm seeing it now too and that might be a bit of a bug. The "insert" link you're seeing on your page is more administrative (that probably doesn't need to be publicly viewable) as it's a transaction log showing you the action of "insert" granted points to your account...

I had assumptions matching the answers you gave but I wanted to verify.
Thanks again.
I hope to be more active on the site in 2011. I have a pile of scripts I need to sort and post.
