Writing custom attributes to an exr

Hi Guys,

I've done quite a bit of searching on-line but I cant find any easy to understand information on writing metadata to and exr file. The 3D Max docs suggest going to http://www.openexr.com/ for more information and there is a PDF http://www.openexr.com/ReadingAndWritingImageFiles.pdf which goes into some detail, but personally it's above my basic knowledge of maxscript.

I want to write camera information (FOV,z height) from 3d Max to the rendered EXR file as well as other information such as Sun time of day,possible HDRI rotation, renderer settings.

Does anyone have any knowledge of how to implement this into a maxscript?

Any help would be much appreciated!

No one have any ideas? A simple snippet showing the correct syntax would be a great help. Just can't get my head around it at all.
