I didn't knew if you wanted
I didn't knew if you wanted to pick bitmaps from a folder or materials.
I quickly created a script where you select a folder with bitmaps (E.A .tga files or something different)
You can specify the extension in the script. By default it's set to .tga
The script will apply the textures randomly to the selected objects.
If you don't need this, but need to pick materials in stead, then just give me a yell, and I'll adjust the script a bit.
Install the script by dragging the AutoMatAssign.ms into your viewport.
Then go to Customize --> Customize User Interface
Choose the toolbar tab and search for Automatic Material Assign, or change the group to Ron Tools and you'll find it immediately.
Now drag the script to your shelf, next to the render icon.
