Raffle Requirements / Rules / Legal Info:

  • The contest winner must be a resident of the USA, age 18 or over.
  • One entry per person, per raffle. If you are found to be cheating or creating duplicate accounts to game the system you will be banned from all ScriptSpot "RE-launch" raffles.
  • Contest is open for 10 days, from Friday July 6 thru Monday July 16 at midnight PST.
  • The winner will be selected at random on a drawing occurring on July 17. Winner will be announced on this page and notified by email. Prize must be claimed within 1 weeks or a runner up winner will be selected.
  • Winner cannot hold HP or ScriptSpot liable for any damage incurred in shipping.
  • Winner may be held liable for taxes (winnings may be reported to the IRS and thus the winner may be held liable at tax time)

How To Enter:

Entering the raffle is easy. All you'll need is a ScriptSpot user account (free of course), a US address, and an opinion - thats it!

Step 1: Get a ScriptSpot account / login
Step 2: Add your name to the entry form. The entry form indicates your desire to participate in the raffle, but the points are required to even be considered!
Step 3: Earn more than 50 points by participating in ScriptSpot as detailed below.

This contest will be run a bit differently from previous ones - after all, if you're going to win an HP xw4400 Workstation, it'll take a little bit of work! Once you've got an account, browse around the site, comment on scripts you like, use the + button to give your thumbs up when you like something or post your own content. All these things will generate points. Once you have 50 points, you're in the raffle - and every time you do something that generates points a status message will be printed at the top of the screen. Here's the points breakdown:

  • Posting a tutorial: 100 points
  • Posting a script / plugin: 25 points
  • Posting a forum topic: 15 points
  • Posting a comment: 10 points
  • Voting on content: 1 point

Points are not retroactive. Someone new to the site has just as much of an opportunity to earn points as someone who has been using it for years. All those users who have earned 50 points or more and filled out the entry form (by the time the contest ends) will be entered into a drawing for the HP xw4400 Workstation. Earning more points will not increase your chances of winning but merely ensures your entry into the raffle. So, lets get moving, start commenting / posting to your hearts content!

How come HP doesn't offer

How come HP doesn't offer new computers with windows xp, while DELL still gives you this choice ? I just talked with a lovely girl from HP customer service and she said : I know, I'm so sorry...but you can only have Vista. Also, no Xp drivers for new computers.
- Hmm.... New business tactics : No choices. Interesting. That should help the business :)

You know I almost didn't open this email... Because the subject had "congratulations" in it, Gmail tagged it as spam.

Hi Chris, well said, I agree

Hi Chris, well said, I agree with what you're saying off course and it's super great that HP is offering such a nice price... really hope this will give scriptspot a great creative injection! After all it's competing with cgtalk and the theArea. Would be great if we would have one definitive place for scripts and questions about scripts (forum)...

Good luck!

Hello all, Johan: I

Hello all,

Johan: I certainly understand where you're coming from - it would have been really nice if we could have made this a global contest. In fact the previous three contests (CGA DVDs, Polyboost and SUPodium) were global and there are still a couple in the works that will be global as well. ScriptSpot is definitely a worldwide community and has benefited tremendously from many contributors from other countries / continents - and for that I think I can say "thank you" from everyone! This contest just happens to have some regional restrictions but I hope we can all be excited about the opportunity (regardless if we're able to win it) and continue to participate / contribute in the ways we can. Thank you for your contributions and I hope you and the rest of the scripters who don't happen to live in the USA know how important your efforts really are!

Marcos: You might have read a bit more aggression into Johan's post than was intended. Personally I thought he was just saying he was disappointed but not resorting to fear tactics.

So, in summary. We're all passionate about 3d here - it just so happens we live in different places of this planet. I know I want ScriptSpot to continue attracting the talent of people around the world - and where possible and when possible I'd like to give back to you guys / gals by collaborating with great companies like HP to offer some really exciting prizes!

Have a nice day everyone, and lets keep any further posts on a positive note ok?

Wow, you totally misread my

Wow, you totally misread my comments, or my lack of speaking proper english is to blame... but the way you're interpreting my comment is way way off...

I was merely saying, that I think it's a pity that it's not for non-americans, since so many europeans also do a lot of maxscripts and contribute to this community, you should read my comments, like I was saying that a change was missed and that it would be great if EVERYONE would contribute equally to this contest and to this great community. Cause I think you will agree with me, that americans will contribute more to the community, because of the great prices, right... There's no fear tactics of any kind, i was just trying to say, it would be great if all non-usa residents would/could participate, I would give the community an even bigger boost! I would surely try to win. I hope that with my lack of english I explained it good enough for you...

Also talking about fear tactics, your post is far from friendly... really there's no reason not to ask what I meant by saying what I said... Love, peace and happiness and good luck to all americans trying to win this great price! Scriptspot rocks!
