Chaos Group will be giving demos of Phoenix and V-Ray RT at this year’s SIGGRAPH. They will also be holding a public event showing how V-Ray can be integrated with post production tools into studios’ pipelines. Also of note, Chaos Group and the CGschool will be offering an 8-hour thorough training event called “The Best of V-Ray” that covers various issues including speed, detail, and noise in renders, animation techniques for static and non-static scenes, practical lighting of exterior and interior scenes, etc.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration

626 votes

10 years... What a ride! During the past decade artists & developers - people just like yourself - have come to this site to find tools that will make their lives easier. I've been honored to get to know many of you, to learn from your techniques and see thousands of artists find the tool they needed. I think one of the things that has amazed me the most over the years is how cross cultural ScriptSpot has become. This isn't just a site that people in Hollywood use, or for that matter a site that people in North America use.

New Search Functionality Unveiled

I am proud to announce an entirely new search system is available on ScriptSpot. The new search engine runs on the Amazon cloud computing service so it's fast, allows for easy filtering of searches and provides content recommendations for similar content. Technologically speaking this is a huge advancement and will serve as a foundation for changes in the years to come.

10 Years - In Search Of A Logo

A component of the regular UI changes has been the changing / improving (IMHO) of the ScriptSpot logo. While early logo attempts were certainly not the best from a graphic design POV they also didn't do much to define what the site was.

The current logo is based on the idea that ScriptSpot is a global community. The dots surrounding the large blue ball signify people - like you - all around the world who contribute their tools for the rest of us to use on ScriptSpot.

10 Years - The Changing Face of ScriptSpot

One thing that has changed dramatically from the early days of ScriptSpot is the interface. The original site was basically a glorified Excel file displayed in a web browser - there was no ranking, no searching, no comments and no way to add content. When ScriptSpot started I had no idea it would grow into the community it has thus the interface has changed with the needs of the site. With more and more content we needed a better way to filter out what we didn't want, a better way to search, a way to communicate and a way to participate.
