596 votes
3rd version of Project Manager gains a lot of new features to manage 3D Assets.
What is most unique to the new features – is the ability to assign custom previews to materials, associate files with materials, and create a gallery of files associated with any type of assets including materials.
You can also write a description for materials and, of course, assign categories to materials.

Key Highlights of this update:
Custom Icons for Directories:
  • Easily organize your library by assigning built-in or custom icons.
Recent Assets:
  • Quick access to the last 25 used assets streamlines your workflow.
Improved Search Performance:
  • The "Everywhere" option enables near-instant asset retrieval.
"Include to Catalog" Feature:
  • Simplifies directory organization directly from the context menu.

Save Selected With Maps

3 votes

It will collect/relink all selected objects bitmaps to the chosen folder, even if the bitmaps are just flagged "found" in the asset tracker, and it will save your selected objects to that same folder. If you don't want to change your scene bitmap paths, Save it before applying the script then reload the scene.

If path are missing or unsolved those maps will keep their missing or unsolved path, it will be easier to try to find them.

EBatcher/Econverter

EBatcher is a max file cleaner, assets collector, Corona converter with legacy materials support that enhances your file’s performance. It can clean up your files and save them to previous versions in batch mode. EBatcher also provides a controllable subdirectory environment and has the ability to collect your assets and rename it to a desired folder.

Each license of this script can be activated on one computer only (With many max versions* and instances as you want) and this license covers ver 1.++ and it’s minor updates below ver 2.00.

FilePathFinder Pro & Light versions

410 votes

Using the FilePathFinder you can be sure that you have complete control over external links into your scenes.

Asset tracking features include support for XREF files and easy linking with external files.

Using the FilePathFinder (and Batch Render&Relink), you can search for missing assets and relink external files.

In addition, files that are linked to selected objects are displayed in Interactive Mode, and bitmap textures can be toggled and placed within the Material Editor.

Also with this tool, you can easily make an archive a 3ds Max scene.

Note that FilePathFinder supports the highest number of asset types of any plug-in.

The Batch Render&Relink tool helps manage your asset files into the 3D model and material libraries in Batch Mode.

BR&R is capable of rendering thumbnails for 3D models, materials, and IES photometric files.

Batch Mode makes for an easy way to gather and compile many assets at once.

Relink Bitmaps

501 votes

Relink Bitmaps is a script to easily relink all missing files (Bitmaps, VRayMeshes, Mental Ray Proxies, VRayHDRI, IES, etc) when they change directories or when you move computers, check out the short video tutorial below for more detailed information.

Unlike some other scripts of its kind, this is free!  There is a small donation link within the script if you choose to donate, I will remove the nag.  It is a simple licensing system, that does not force you to transfer network cards or be connected to the internet and will work with all versions of Max that are supported by the script.  If you choose to donate I'll be more than happy to license multiple computers as well.

Features:

[*] All 3dsmax supported Bitmap Texture types
[*] (new) Relinks Mental Ray Proxy files
[*] (new) Relinks VRay Proxies (.vrmesh)
[*] (new) Relinks VRayHDRI files
[*] (new) Relinks IES files (including VRayIES files)
[*] (new) Automatically checks for script updates and new versions
[*] 250% speed increase from previous versions
[*] Command-line mode available for automating repetative tasks (see documentation on the website)
[*] Configurable default user options saving button clicks and wasted time

Relink Assets

38 votes

Hi this is my version of a tool for relinking (missing) bitmaps which can not be found for whatever reasons (changed paths, moved files etc.). It is pretty straightforward and works with almost any type of asset (maps, HDRIs, IES files) as long as it can be referenced and seen in the asset browser. Due to copyright restrictions I can not publish the code right now but I hope that it can help you anyways until max itself has a better management for assets.

Hello there,

I'm back after long time with a new script about file retargeting. If you try it, let me know what you think.

See the video for more (sorry for the bad sound).
