ScriptSpot is a diverse online community of artists and developers who come together to find and share scripts that empower their creativity with 3ds Max. Our users come from all parts of the world and work in everything from visual effects to gaming, architecture, students or hobbyists.
Updated to version 0.83 and converted to a Helper instead of modifier. This is a new Helper for 3DS Max, that does the same as the Array tool does, but with some more features and more importantly, the settings can be adjusted on the fly, so you can always change the spacing, rotation, scaling between the array objects, or use splines for either 1D, 2D, 3D position. Also feature an randomize addition that can randomize spacing, rotation, scaling.
With length calculator you can easily calculate the length of the selected edges. Very usefull for arch modeling. In the next release it will also support shapes.
This script allows you to create procedural arrays which stay editable even after you close and reopen the file. The array objects are linked to a parent helper which you can transform to your liking while still keeping array qualities. This is great for creating tiles or roofs where you place the array first and still want to tweak the distance between its elements.
this was done for a very certain task...
i'm working with team mates who work in maya platform while most of the work is done by 3ds max and it plugins..and i work on both but better at 3ds max..
If you ever tried to export an FBX file from maya to max you will suffer from two or three basic things,
1: all materials are phong with high specular
2: some maps were defined in maya in som way that max understands them as maps with map channel != 1,then the need a uvw mapping
3: some faces problems
-----
fixing these in a very big scene could be very painful
