Outliner
The Outliner 2.0 is a fast and easy to use scene management tool. It has a wide range of features, including selecting, hiding, freezing, linking and grouping objects in the "Hierarchy Mode". In the "Layer Mode" you can organize your scene by dragging&dropping objects from one layer to the other. What's more, the Outliner offers support for nested layers, to manage scenes more efficiently. The interface is nimble enough to keep it open constantly.
Compared to the previous version (1.6.1), there are many improvements. Most notable among them are: hugely increased performance, improved stability, nested layer support and many small tweaks to improve the ease of use. For a list of all changes, click here

H bro,
Great work, I am using this for every work. and yes I got your Workflow Tools also.
Here some cmt on those things hope that you find it useful :
1. Mostly on not actually a big scene but Outliner make my work slow because of its loading progress (i can see blank screen or my max turn to freeze on Win 7 for a while)
2. Workflow Tool got a lot of great tools inside, but why dont you add them into a panel, now they are all separated and got much time to call them out from CUSTOMIZE menu. I am lazy so right now I did not call all :D
3. Material Explorer really slow and crash frequently
4. Filter option cause crash sometime and it quite slow or getting some delay.
Hope these are not my fault when using MAX, then it should help you alot onf upgrading your GREATEST EVER script, I am really tired to work with default layer inside MAX, but have to agree that DEFAULT in MAX greatly fast and no crashes.
I am using 3DSMAX DESIGN 2010 64bit on Win7 OS with a Dual Core XEON spec/6gb Ram

but let me post bug report here - camera and helpers targets are shown as geometry.
Request: Cut and paste objects into hierachy
I was wondering if I could put a request in. Sometimes we deal with a thousand objects in a scene. We were wondering if there is a way to select an object and sort of cut and paste it into a new hierarchy node. Sometimes it takes a few minutes of dragging to find the proper node we need to place it under. Being able to do a sort of copy paste objects would be awesome! Just a wish list item. : ) Thanks!
Hehe you're welcome. This
Hehe you're welcome.
This works the same for object hierarchies and material assignments by the way.

Hahaha, so simple, I can't believe I haven't figured it out myself :)
Thank you
You can unlink a layer from
You can unlink a layer from its parent by dragging it into empty space (within the outliner's treeview). If you drag it to the right of any node's text, a different cursor should appear (an empty box instead of the +), indicating that the selection will be unlinked when you drop it there.
I hope that helps.
I'll look into the issue of deleting a toplayer not being saved.
Hi, Thanks for this great
Hi,
Thanks for this great script :)
I have a problem. I don't know how to move layer back to root from nested layer. I can drag it, but I can only move it to some other layer and not to root. I can delete top layer and then all the nested layer within will go to the root, so it is how it should be, but after reloading the scene, top layer that I have deleted is back containing all nested layers - like it couldn't save layers to root again.
Do you know how to solve this?
Thanks
