-copy
saves selected object in the file "copy_paste_buffer.max"
in default scenes directory and make
a backup of old file /"copy_paste_buffer_backup.max"/
-paste
merge "copy_paste_buffer.max" in the current scene

Hi,
this is a collection of macros that I use every day in my shading/texturing workflow. You'll find eleven buttons which do the following task:

Selection tools
- by instance: looks for instances of selected object and select them
- by material: yeah, you can do this by clicking MaterialEditor->selectByMaterial but... I find this too slow. Just a click and go.
- by modifier: select all objects in the scene that have applied an instance of the first modifier in selection stack. (useful for displacements and uvmaps)

first i want to apologize for my English on behalf of google translate!

As I have often problems with lack of RAM, I wrote this script to optimize subdivision iterations for editable poly objects. This is the first beta of the script and I want to see if there is interest.

Script analyze the scene and earning statistics for all editabple poly objects that have included nurms subdivision, the number of iterations, the number of polygons and their percent ratio in the scene. Allows for quick change of iterations, switch on and off nurms subdivision.

Instance Tool

Instance tool analyze the geometry objects in the scene and finds groups of objects that could be represented as instances of one of them. Then the user can turn every group into actual instances and choose which object from the group will be preserved. The objects in the group are objects that have the same topology (could be morph targets of one another) and the difference between them could be described with transformation alone.

VPL "viewport layouts"

This is an update to ViewPort Controls Mini and renamed to VPL 2.0 I found with the introduction of the view cube. The other feathures of "ViewPort Controls Mini" were redundant. So I striped it down to just the viewport layout selections in a dock-able buttons bar.

VPL Use: Only use VPL from the 4 viewport state. Not the (alt+W) maximized viewport state.

Array 3D

PhotobucketUpdated to version 0.83 and converted to a Helper instead of modifier. This is a new Helper for 3DS Max, that does the same as the Array tool does, but with some more features and more importantly, the settings can be adjusted on the fly, so you can always change the spacing, rotation, scaling between the array objects, or use splines for either 1D, 2D, 3D position. Also feature an randomize addition that can randomize spacing, rotation, scaling.

Spline in Middle

This script was requested in this thread.

The main purpose is to get edge selection, create spline and put it in center of a tube.

Work only with Editable Poly objects.

Watch the video demonstration.

Installation: Drag and drop the script file in 3ds max. Go to Customize-Customize User Interface - "miauu" category.

EasyDefectSubmission

This script pre-fills the Autodesk Defect Submission form with your user data. This makes it quicker to submit bugs by eliminating the process of entering all your details again and again..

After installation you can report bugs to Autodesk straight from within 3dsMax.

The user data is 'hard coded' in the script but easy to adjust even for non programmers.
