Outliner

Version:
2.1.5
Date Updated:
09/13/2012

The Outliner 2.0 is a fast and easy to use scene management tool. It has a wide range of features, including selecting, hiding, freezing, linking and grouping objects in the "Hierarchy Mode". In the "Layer Mode" you can organize your scene by dragging&dropping objects from one layer to the other. What's more, the Outliner offers support for nested layers, to manage scenes more efficiently. The interface is nimble enough to keep it open constantly.

Additional Info:

Compared to the previous version (1.6.1), there are many improvements. Most notable among them are: hugely increased performance, improved stability, nested layer support and many small tweaks to improve the ease of use. For a list of all changes, click here

Version Requirement:
3ds Max 2010

.NET 3.5 Framework

I've found the cause of the defect, it will be fixed in v2.1. And actually the "middle" image is already an incorrect state. The objects should not be shown in the tree at all.

thank you!

here is one mostly max's related issue, but ountliner could easily fix it.

- on heavy scenes hide/unhide and select operations are not visible in viewport until its manual update (pan or zoom). is it possible to add redraw command after hide/unhide/select operations?

PS one more interface option would be great - ability to disable horizontal scroll bar so list will be always aligned by left edge

2 bugs found

1. when hide layer by clicking on its icon - everything is fine - all the object's icons are dimmed. but when click on layer's icon again to unhide - only one object in layer is indicating as visible

2. when click to unhide layer - object list (plus in rectangle) displays only after Outliner restart

both issues ONLY when hidden objects are disabled in filter
illustration screenshot is attached

1. It's very difficult to say

1. It's very difficult to say what went wrong with the layer disappearing without knowing what happened in max before that. Is it still gone when you close & reopen the Outliner?

2. You're going to have to at least give me the error message for me to be able to look into it.

Please fix these 2 bugs !!

1st bug - I have made a layer and in a few minutes I looked back at Outliner and the layer wasn't there anymore! I went to Max'es default layer manager and sure enough it was there. Please see the attached screenshot. Any ideas? I'm using the latest official version - 2.0.97 on Max 2009.

2nd bug - (2.1 BETA  2 & 3 related) - Error message when Outliner is closed
