Outliner

Version:
2.1.5
Date Updated:

The Outliner 2.0 is a fast and easy to use scene management tool. It has a wide range of features, including selecting, hiding, freezing, linking and grouping objects in the "Hierarchy Mode". In the "Layer Mode" you can organize your scene by dragging&dropping objects from one layer to the other. What's more, the Outliner offers support for nested layers, to manage scenes more efficiently. The interface is nimble enough to keep it open constantly.

Additional Info:

Compared to the previous version (1.6.1), there are many improvements. Most notable among them are: hugely increased performance, improved stability, nested layer support and many small tweaks to improve the ease of use. For a list of all changes, click here

I assume you're referring to

I assume you're referring to Haavard's tool? I don't really see how that is related to the Outliner though, so maybe you could clarify a bit?

Interesting idea! It does

Interesting idea! It does indeed sound like it could be a big undertaking, but it might be useful. Could you maybe write down some requirements and how you'd imagine it should work in relation to the Outliner? I guess you can either do that here or maybe on cgtalk or polycount if that makes the discussion easier.

Maybe you could send me the

Maybe you could send me the script (or the relevant part of it) through email, so I can have a look at it. The Outliner shouldn't interfere with the selection or scripts using the selection, unless of course you actually do something with the Outliner. So maybe something is going wrong.

Btw. did you fix the 3dconnexion issue?

Script Problem in 2.1.4?

Hello,

I have noticed that with one of my maxscripts that I use to loop thru a selection of objects and process them, that the script will skip a few nodes with Outliner open. If I use the native Scene Explorer to select the objects and then run the script, it does not skip any. So is there any particular things I should be doing in my script to make it Outliner friendly?

thx

you have layer mode, material mode and hierarchy mode, so what about external references mode? for managing xrefs, maps and proxies? i know this is a hole new program but it will ber very very intresting :) default max asset track is piece of shit :) i know there is many script that can do this but it would be better if you do it :)
