Outliner

Version:
2.1.5
Date Updated:
09/13/2012

The Outliner 2.0 is a fast and easy to use scene management tool. It has a wide range of features, including selecting, hiding, freezing, linking and grouping objects in the "Hierarchy Mode". In the "Layer Mode" you can organize your scene by dragging&dropping objects from one layer to the other. What's more, the Outliner offers support for nested layers, to manage scenes more efficiently. The interface is nimble enough to keep it open constantly.

Additional Info:

Compared to the previous version (1.6.1), there are many improvements. Most notable among them are: hugely increased performance, improved stability, nested layer support and many small tweaks to improve the ease of use. For a list of all changes, click here

3ds Max 2010

Thanks!
I think you'll be happy to know that I'm working hard on a new version. It will be a lot faster (a solid 5-6 times compared to 2.1) and will have nice new features too.
Keep an eye on the frontpage of the website for updates on the development: http://script.threesixty.nl/outliner/

Update in nitrous

That's strange. I cannot test it myself (poor old laptop), but it works fine for a mate of mine. And I can't really think of a reason why this should happen...
You could try taking this up with Autodesk, and see if they might have some ideas. (Tell them you talked to me already, otherwise they'll probably send you straight back) If you find out more specifics around this issue, let me know!

Just Brilliant!

I know you get a lot of requests and things, but I just want to thank you for this absolutely brilliant piece of work. I installed it after seeing an Autodesk (as in made by Autodesk) tutorial vid on Facebook where the guy recommended your script. My vote is that Autodesk kill their slow as molasses third party control scene explorer, and replace it with outliner altogether (making the developer rich) and increment the major version, which will probably be the most useful thing in years. I absolutely rely on this now for scene navigation. Please keep this current.

nitro viewport

Hello, when I use Nitro (2012, w7 x64)) the Outliner does not update when I create new objects. New objects only appear when I close and re-open the Outliner.

When I switch do Direct3D it is working fine.

since I am switching from Maya to Max your Outliner is great !!
