This script easily gets the material(s) and loads them into the material editor.

With multiple objects selected it will load them all into the editor.

I suggest keybinding this to CTRL-SHIFT-G for speeding up your workflow instead of using a toolbar icon!

Additional Info:

1. Run script

2. In Max goto "Customize->Customize User Interface...->Keyboard tab->Category: ColinScripts->GetSelectedMaterial", click the "Hotkey" field and press CTRL-SHIFT-G. Press Save at the bottom.

Thanks Colin!  Just an

Thanks Colin!

Just an idea... Would it be too much "overhead" to clean the material editor prior to loading the material?

I have a "thing" about waiting to load someone's material editor that they've left 20 complex multi-materials loaded into.

I have been using the "MatClean" script to remedy this prior to opening the material editor, but it would be nice to have an "all-in-one" solution:  select object/"ctrl-shift-g"/edit solo material in optimized editor... ah, sounds like a dream.

Cheers,

Britt

Ps. Here's a post I made about the general idea a while back.
