Macroscripts for moving polygons and objects with keyboard.

UPDATE 02 June 2011

New reference Coordinate System are now supported:

  • ObjectGrid and Working Pivot coordinate systems in object mode.
  • Object and Grid coordsys coordinate systems in face sub-object mode.

The only way to move faces and polygons in local space in 3ds max 2009!

Support Edit Poly modifier's polygons, Editable Poly's polygons and Editable Mesh's polygons. In any other selection (vetices/edges) or in base object level whole object is moving in current coordinate system.

Additional Info:

Installation:

Install scripts by running "move with keyboard.ms" file from any place. Also you need "sergo-functions.ms" file, put it in the Scripts/Startup folder. This file is the same for some other scripts from this site, so you can overwrite it if you already have it in that folder.

Restart 3dsmax and assign shortcut keys (up-down keys seem most reasonable) to "MovePositiveByKeyboard" and "MoveNegativeByKeyboard" scripts in "Sergo Pogosyan" category.

Also you can add toolbar button or shortcut for the "Set MoveByKeyboard Step" script to set the step size.

Usage:

Select objects or polygons(only) in EditablePoly/EditPoly/EditableMesh sub-objects and press assigned keys to move objects/polygons forth or back on the active axis. Start "Set MoveByKeyboard Step" script to specify moving step.

Only one axis should be selected.

Nevermind using a script, I got an idea ....I'm using a mouse emulator, it emulates the mouse clicks, movements with the keyboard and also it can toggle the left click..beautiful I can move anything in 3ds max.

Only Objects

As far as I remember you should run this script and in SergoPogosyan category you'll find for scripts. Next you should assign any keys to that scripts (arrow keys for example) and that's all.
Hope that helps.

Thanks!!

Good script! Thank you sergey.
Think about developing this script, refreshed? Maybe you can become more fun added to switch between the other axes. :)

I did experiment a number of utilities with the tool panel, motion capture, but the result is always absolut cordinat system. Your system has been very useful script to make incremental cordinat.
