This is for gMax. It won't work right in 3ds, and 3ds already has layers capability.

This is a macroscript which opens a dialog window. Assign it a hotkey (I suggest Alt-L) and/or a menu item (I suggest Tools), toolbar button, or whatever you like. It lets you affect selection, transparency, visability, and freezing of groups of objects.

Activate Organize Mode to group objects. Initially, all objects are in the (none) layer. Select members, then click New Layer and enter a name, or move selected members to another layer by selecting that layer while members are selected. De-activate Organize Mode to avoid accidentally messing up your groupings.

Installation:
Drag and drop Layers.mzp onto gMax. The macroscript will be installed, and the Customize UI dialog will appear. The Layers macroscript is in the Tools catagory.

Not working script

Hi bobbysoon,

this is a great idea to give gMax layer capabillities :)

I installed it, like you said, but it does not show up.

I put "layers.mzp" into the mainfolder of gMax. When I open "Tools" section there is also no entry I can choose for layers, and it does not show up any UI dialog as well.

"Autostart scripts" is enabled. And click manually on MAXscript --> run script, isn't working too.

What do I wrong? I will be very grateful, if you tell me how to use your macroscript.

Best regards
bluesky
