PLACE PEOPLE (Commercial script)

PLACE PEOPLE is a 3ds Max plugin written in MaxScript that allows the user to place characters created with the 3ds Max 'Populate Toolset' anywhere, following a 3D spline path, and be glued to any surface, in really few mouse clicks.

New version V-1.02:

- Now, walkers can be created walking towards an object (for example, a door), thanks to the new subrollout 'Face to Object'

- Walkers can be rotated in local coordsys (relative to their origin)

- Editing path affects characters position in real time

- Number of simulation frames can be changed in the rollout

- Bugs corrections for idle characters facing an object or rotated following a path

- Performance enhancement

Populate:Terrain assists in creating and optimizing terrain surfaces from contour lines or from existing meshes. The quad based output allows for easier later remodeling, for example using push/pull painting. The regular face size reduces rendering issues (GI, displacement) and you can use Turbosmooth on it.

Move Populate Files To Network Path

0 votes

If you have ever tried a network render using Populate characters, you've probably noticed that the textures are generated by Max and saved to a local folder on your computer. This isn't very helpful if you are trying to render over network.

This simple script copies the diffuse textures from all Populate people to a new folder you choose, then assigns the new path back to the material.

Game Models Tools

This script lets you perform various texture map batch operations and batch import and map various game object formats. You can batch populate and rename the filepaths for different map slots ( as well as set other common properties ). If you have many bitmaps named according to a naming convention, you can quickly populate the appropriate maps accordingly.

At the current moment, there is no help documentation.

Simply run the script from the maxscript menu.

Works with Standard and Multimaterial

This is definitely a special needs tool. It's not one that would be needed very often, but when it's needed it saves hours of time.

Takes a collection of nodes parented to a master CTRL and populates them to the transform of a selected group of nodes.
