ZOA Path Editor

39 votes

Simple Path relinker application for maps, ies, hdri corona proxy and vrayproxy objects. Features are: path text replacing and copy functions. The two text fields below each section are for "original" and for "future" paths. $ stand for string. Use it to copy a map path of a selected map to the desired text field.

User interface for the maps section. Others look the same.

HDRI Material Override Toolbar

5 votes

Simple floating 'toolbar' example where you can quickly toggle reflection override for the current viewport (any custom picked hdri map will work) and set its rotation. Since it's just a viewport override, all the materials applied to the objects will be left untouched. Comes in handy for example when checking for shading errors.

FilePathFinder Pro & Light versions

410 votes

Using the FilePathFinder you can be sure that you have a complete control over external links into your scenes.

Asset tracking features include support for XREF files and easy linking with external files.

Using the FilePathFinder (and Batch Render&Relink), you can search for missing assets and relink external files.

In addition, files that are linked to selected objects are displayed in Interactive Mode, and bitmap textures can be toggled and placed within the Material Editor.

Also with this tool you can easy make an archive a 3ds Max scene.

Note that FilePathFinder supports the highest number of asset types of any plug-in.

For example, FilePathFinder is the only plugin that can display and relink Vray Lens effects, even with missing bitmaps. In addition, scenes may be archived and easily sent to render services such as RebusFarm.

The Batch Render&Relink tool helps manage your asset files into the 3D model and material libraries in Batch Mode.

BR&R is capable of rendering thumbnails for 3D models, materials, and IES photometric files.

Batch Mode makes for an easy way to gather and compile many assets at once.

New Features & Fixes for FilePathFinder Pro

  • Adds support to 3ds Max 2020.
  • Speeds up the relinking of asset files for complex scenes up to 5 times.
  • The option "Remove unused materials" now supports the Slate Material Editor. [3ds Max 2014 and above]

  • Fixes some minor issues with comparing external files with same name but different content

Vray HDRI Light

A new tool useful for those who often use VrayDome Light with a VrayHDRI texmap pluged-in. You simply locate the HDR map on your computer, and the script generate a VrayDome light with your HDR file. The HDR is also display in the viewport and you can rotate it by rotating the VrayDome light. There is an additional parameter on the VrayDome light that allows you to enabled or disabled the HDR in the viewport.

Relink Assets

37 votes

Hi this is my version of a tool for relinking (missing) bitmaps which can not be found for whatever reasons (changed paths, moved files etc.). It is pretty straightforward and works with almost any type of asset (maps, HDRIs, IES files) as long as it can be referenced and seen in the asset browser. Due to copyright restrictions I can not publish the code right now but I hope that it can help you anyways until max itself has a better management for assets.

Vray HDRI Viewer

Vray HDRI Viewer is a simple and quick way of getting your HDRI's into your scene. Please note that for every HDRI the viewer requires an equivalent jpg file sized at 1000x500. I will be releasing a photoshop action to make this a little easier.

To intstal, use the maxscript menu > run script. You will then find it in "Catagory > shawvfx"
