Project Manager

596 votes
3rd version of Project Manager gains a lot of new features to manage 3D Assets.
What is most unique to the new features – is the ability to assign custom previews to materials, associate files with materials, and create a gallery of files associated with any type of assets including materials.
You can also write a description for materials and, of course, assign categories to materials.

Enhanced Organization and Filtering:
  • Granular Filtering: Effortlessly filter your models by various criteria, including 3Ds Max version, renderer, comments, category, and even image preview status. This allows you to quickly locate specific assets within your library.
Proxy Preview Customization:
  • Fine-Tuned Previews: Take control of the level of detail displayed in your Proxy previews within the viewport. This lets you optimize the balance between preview quality and performance.
Mass Renaming Made Easy:
  • Lightning-Fast Mass Rename: Renaming a large number of assets is now a breeze! Project Manager significantly speeds up the Mass-Rename tool, saving you valuable time.
Teamwork Efficiency Boost:
  • Improved Database Performance: Experience smoother and faster operation when working with large databases within teams. Project Manager has been optimized to handle extensive asset libraries seamlessly.
Bug Fixes and Optimizations:
  • Fixes Galore: This update addresses a multitude of issues reported by users. Resolved problems include bugs with the Mass-Rename tool, Auto-Assign preview functionality, external scene link renaming, relinking assets with excluded directories, and relinking large scenes.
  • Upgrade and Migration Smoothness: Enjoy a more streamlined experience when upgrading from Project Manager version 2.
  • Copy/Paste Reliability: The copy/paste functionality for assets has been enhanced for improved robustness.
  • Multi-Category Selection: Select multiple categories with ease to further refine your asset filtering.
  • Custom Script Execution (API): Issues with executing custom scripts (#Relink, #RelinkPreSave, and #RelinkPostSave) used in Batch Render & Relink workflows have been resolved.
  • Database Import: Fixes an issue with database importing when converting from DesignConnected via SQLite to MySQL/MariaDB.
  • Format Conversion: The process of converting selected files to other 3D formats has been optimized for better performance.
  • Additional Optimizations: This update incorporates a range of other optimizations, bug fixes, and speed improvements to ensure Project Manager runs at its absolute best.

Populate Material Editor

This script will, load selected objects materials in the chosen material editor ( slate or compact ),

there is also a "Reset Material Editor Slots" button, that clears the material editor and replace each slot by a new material of the current renderer, it works for Vray, Corona, Arnold, F-storm and Octane, else it will create some 3dsmax physical material instead.

FilePathFinder Pro & Light versions

Using the FilePathFinder you can be sure that you have complete control over external links into your scenes.

Asset tracking features include support for XREF files and easy linking with external files.

Using the FilePathFinder (and Batch Render&Relink), you can search for missing assets and relink external files.

In addition, files that are linked to selected objects are displayed in Interactive Mode, and bitmap textures can be toggled and placed within the Material Editor.

Also with this tool, you can easily make an archive a 3ds Max scene.

Note that FilePathFinder supports the highest number of asset types of any plug-in.

The Batch Render&Relink tool helps manage your asset files into the 3D model and material libraries in Batch Mode.

BR&R is capable of rendering thumbnails for 3D models, materials, and IES photometric files.

Batch Mode makes for an easy way to gather and compile many assets at once.

Purge Unused Materials

2 votes

A simple macroscript to delete all unused materials from the Compact Editor Material Slots AND the Slate Material Editor Views.
The Compact Editor Code is from the existing Macro found under the Compact Material Editor "Utilities" menu.
I have added the code to also purge the SME at the same time.

You might want to check out the "Purge Empty Layers" macroscript as well. There are some awesome scene management tools out there but these are both small, simple tools without a lot of overhead for doing a little housekeeping before saving your file.
