G.I. Toggle

A simple script for mental ray, which will give you a toggle for Global Illumination that you can have in a toolbar, quad or floater.

I created this as I found myself often turning GI on and off to test various assets in a scene in isolation.

VolumePreview

"VolumePreview generates a preview of environment effects in the viewport including volumetrics - lens effects and shadows. It requires a camera view to generate a preview. After generating the preview data - the viewport displays the volumetric effects - shadows and lens flares in realtime.

Virtual GI v.0.3b

16 votes

This is the version 0.3b of the Virtual Global Illumination (VGI) script, and allows to simulate the Global Illumination outside.
Simply, a light sphere is created about to an object selected to simulate the bounce of the ray in the object.
VGI is very useful to preview some short animations in "Virtual GI" using not only the render Scanline but Mental Ray engine with very short times for the rendering! Optimum to illuminate integer scenes outdoor with a hot and suffused light.

Render Hold

Stores rendered images into a slider so that you can easily compare renders. Mimics how Maya's renderer stores images.

FFX-Render-Manager

Big scale effects require usually more than one FFX. Having a lot of FFX and holdout objects asks for a lot of memory. Limited memory means rendering in passes. Different lights and shaders per pass multiply the renderpasses again.

To setup a render, it takes some steps and usually you forget one and need to resubmit. That's why I wrote this script, that overviews everything and gives the ability to set it up fast.

I avoided using .NET intentionally, because in big scenes it sometimes takes a long time just to open a scripted tool.

Vray Quick Render

21 votes

A very compact dialog with a few additional presets for the Vray renderer.

When opened it will save a temporary preset of your current render dialog values. From now on you can adjust whatever you wish without worry of screwing up your production render settings.

Categories: Irradiance Map, QMC Sampler, Glossy, Reflection, AA, and RenderSize

each has a small array of progressively lower quality higher speed settings that you can throw in for quick test rendering.

This simple script, allows to accelerate the workflow in 3DSMax.
